Gardening -We Need Help!
Spring clean-up
and planting at the BYC will begin on Saturday, May 10th at 8:30.
Many hands make
light work for all, so grab your gloves and gardening tools and come play in
the dirt. Call Linda Devine at 661-6273
or just come on Saturday if you would like to be part of the planting
committee.

BYC Web site:
Pete Capitain has
spent some very productive time redoing the BYC website. It has some very
useful features to aid in communicating with the board and various committees.
A member can now send E Mail to the flag officers, Treasurer or Secretary. The
various committee heads can be contacted the same way. The schedule for 2003 is
posted on the site as is the last newsletter.
We hope to be able to publish current comments and post pictures from
recent parties or events on another page when the season starts. Any comments or suggestions would be
appreciated.

I would like to thank
the following members for their help at the BYC during the last couple of
Saturdays. We worked on several
projects such as continuing with the decking in front of the boatyard lockers,
removing the old rotted light pole in the boatyard, moving lots of dirt and new
sand for the sandbox, repairs in the men’s locker room and general cleanup.
Chuck “sparky” Hoyler,
Pete “I got a good idea” Capitan, Ken “never met a 2x8 I couldn’t make fit”
Goodwin, Dave “fox hole” Hyer, John “wheelbarrow” Schroeder, Charlie “oldest
helper award” Hoyler, John “what ever you need” Bergquest, Tom “what did I get
myself into” McGowen, Marty “locker room” O’Connell and last but not least Tom
“no panic, even though opening day is only a month away” Devine.
Board News
It is with regret that the Board of Directors accepts the resignation
of Kieran McShane as an officer of the BYC. He has been a great asset over the
last few years. Kieran was a driving force in improving the quality of the
liquor at the party’s. In that respect alone he should be nominated for a
special award. The Board now announces that he is the latest member of the past
Director Anonymous Protection program, otherwise known as DAP. He can now show
his face without any of that guilty feeling and Anne, his wife, can relax now
that she won’t be getting any more crank calls from the rest of the directors.
The Board is pleased that Thomas McGowan has accepted the invitation to
join as a Director. Tom and his lovely wife Chris have been members since 1995
and have been a great example of the spirit and volunteerism that gives the
club its character. We wish him all the best and hope that Chris has the patience
of a saint. The spouses of the Board are the unsung heroes and do much more
than most people realize.
