Spring Party 2004
The spring party
had a record turnout, 168 club members. As our second spring party at Captain
Bill’s, no one was disappointed. It was
a beautiful day with great company and delicious hor d’oeuvres. It was a fine
end to a long and harsh winter.
House submitted by Tom Mc Gowan
Work will be
starting soon after Easter. Every spring the club and grounds need a little TLC
to get back in shape for the summer. There are many talented members in the
club. Please consider giving a few hours one Saturday morning. We all have our
children’s sports and our own house, but this is a volunteer club and many
hands make light work.
The website now
has a regatta bulletin board. There’s a
link to it on the front page of the website.
We’ll keep it current with events.
Please sign up. It’s open to
Captains, Crew, or anyone interested.
You can post questions (or give answers), for-sale ads, crew
wanted/available, or similar listings.
We did battle this winter with the
Cruising Club and, in the bloody aftermath (Bloody Mary’s),
developed a unified set of courses for the
REMINDER: Our assessment is
well-named: DUEs. By the time you read this, if you have not
paid already, the dues are, well, due. Overdue, in
fact. Please help the Club out by paying as soon as possible. It cuts
down on needless expenses that are generated by mailing reminders, posting
those who are delinquent, etc.
Thank you.

Juniors submitted
by JACK ALBANESE
There
will be a meeting for our junior members to elect officers for the
Junior Yacht Club. It will be held on Saturday April 10th at
As
weather permits during the club off-season, the swimming pool is being
renovated by Ron Gibbons Swimming Pools. The work will be completed long before
opening day. The more noticeable improvements will be the coping around the
pool edge with imbedded depth markings and new vertical tile above water
level. The elevation of the coping will
be corrected to match the deck. The
rough marbleized surface that currently covers the inside of the pool will be
replaced with a new smooth finish.
Because pool-marbleizing technology has improved, we will receive a
surface quite reflective and mirror like.
Looking down to the bottom at the shallow end, one may see an accurate
likeness. Dropped items in the pool will
stand out noticeably.
Admissions submitted by
Doug Williamson
If you need applications, please call Doug. As a reminder, in order to sponsor or second
a prospective member, you must be a member of the Club for at least two years.
The BYC has a waiting list and all applications will be
numbered. The admissions committee is working on that list so any new
applicants will likely have to wait one year to be admitted. The earlier the
process is started, the better the chances are
for prospective applicants.
